Creating a Safer Community: The inaugural meeting of Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) Canowindra was held last week. In attendance were David Watmore, secretary for Neighbourhood Watch NSW and his partner Narelle, Chifley district acting inspector Glenn Griffith and secretary and Canowindra resident James Dine, along with president of NHW Cowra Nikki Kiss.
David Watmore chaired the meeting, which included 17 residents and spoke on how NHW functions in NSW. Acting inspector Griffith gave an informative address on how NHW Canowindra members can assist the police in addressing crime locally.
Under the chairmanship of David Watmore, the following committee members were elected: Lance Sanderson was elected president, Margeret Trelford was made secretary and Allison Newcombe became the treasurer. The first committee meeting is to be advised.
Vaccine Rollout in the Central West: The COVID-19 vaccine rollout in NSW is accelerating. Eligible members of the public are now able to start booking into vaccine clinics provided by the Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD). Please do not call your local hospital to make a booking. Bookings can only be made by registering at www.nsw.gov.au
Vaccination clinics for members of the Canowindra Public School public will not be located in hospitals. Please check your appointment information for the location of your vaccination.
People aged 50 and over who cannot access the AstraZeneca vaccine through their GP can book into clinics opening in Orange and Dubbo. Additional clinics will be opening across the district in the coming months. People aged 40 to 49 can register their interest to receive the Pfizer vaccine online at www.nsw.gov.au or make a booking at clinics in Dubbo and Orange.
WNSWLHD are continuing to vaccinate eligible people in priority groups under the National Vaccination Program.
Moorbel Hall Going Strong: The Moorbel Hall committee held it is annual general meeting on Tuesday, 18 May. The meeting saw some reappointments, with Maureen Birmingham named as president, Jo Boyd as vice president and Christine McIl-vain as secretary. Ian McIlvain became the new treasurer. The incoming committee would like to thank Warwick Bowd for his commitment to the hall committee over many years, his excellent barbeque cooking skills and general maintenance abilities will be missed. The hall has recently had a facelift, with new lighting, interior painting and repaired and resurfaced flooring.
Moorbell Hall has been updated with new lighting, interior painting and a shiny, resurfaced floor.
