David Isbester’s was given the People’s Choice in The Cabonne Acquisitive Art Prize for his painting “Time to Go Home.”
Local Artist Wins Big: David Isbester was awarded the People’s Choice award in the Cabonne Acquisitive Art Prize 2021, collecting $1,000 in prize money. Canowindra artist David competed against the best artists in the Cabonne region in the exhibition which ran from Saturday, 27 March to Thursday, 8 April at the Molong RSL. Voting in The People’s Choice award was open to residents at a cost of $2 per vote. Well done David for winning over the people!

A Taste of Music: A Taste of Canowindra’s Busking Competition was a hit on the weekend. In the Seasoned Musos category, Greg’s Duo placed third with David and Laura coming up in second and third place respectively. Henry and Alex came first in the Budding Stars category, with Josie and Jonty coming in second and third place respectively. Denis McKay received the People’s Choice award.
Gallery Renamed: Canowindra Arts Inc. has been renamed and is now operating as the Canowindra Art Gallery (CAG). The gallery will be launching a smaller space within the existing shop front, dedicated to specialised works, on 24 April at 5pm. The inaugural exhibition will feature balloon paintings to tie in with the International Balloon Challenge. CAG is a volunteer run gallery and is always looking for new members. Membership allows artists to show their work in exhibitions four times a year. The group also holds an open social painting meeting twice a week. Cost is $5 and painters are asked to bring their own paint and works.
Benham Birthday Boy: Happy birthday to recent Canowindra Phoenix Easter Colouring Competition winner, Zach Benham, who recently turned seven. Zach celebrated with family and a Sonic Flash birthday party.
