Introduction to ‘crochet’: Canowindra Creative Centre will hold an introduction to ‘crochet’ on Monday August 29 from 11.30am to 2.30pm at Orana House, facilitated by Isabella MacGuire. Attendance will be by donation. Coffee and tea will be provided, but you will need to bring your own lunch. For more information contact Deb on 6344 2490 or debrutter@bigpond.com.

Canowindra Business Chamber update: A large number of Chamber members came to hear Ashley Burns of Burns and Co auctioneers, who kindly updated the meeting on the forthcoming auction of the Canowindra Motors Holden Museum contents. Council has commenced a trial of cleaning the public toilets on Saturday and Sunday mornings and cleaning the bins weekly. The Chamber is grateful for this commitment and Council’s support of local events. The Christmas Shopping night will be a focus at the next meeting to be held at Magge Designs, Gaskill Street on Wednesday 21 September, at 6pm.

Canowindra Community Reading Day: The seventh annual Canowindra Community Reading Day will take place at Canowindra Public School on Friday, August 26.
The Canowindra Phoenix has donated $100 towards the event, and is asking all other businesses in Canonwindra and surrounds to make a donation, either matching its own donation or making a smaller one.

Mobile Blood Bank coming to Canowindra: The Australian Red Cross Mobile Blood Bank will be in Canowindra on Monday, September 5, at Morris Park on Rodd Street. It will be open from 9.10am until 3.30pm. The Australian Red Cross is encouraging as much of the town as possible to roll their sleeves up and donate blood. Those doing so should have a good sized breakfast that morning, drink three to four glasses of water or juice beforehand, and must have photo ID with them. The Australian Red Cross Blood Service needs to collect over 25,000 blood donations every week to help Australians in need.

Daffodil Day fundraiser to take place: A Daffodil Day fundraiser will be held outside of Lawrence’s IGA, Gaskill Street, Canowindra on Friday. Daffodil Day is an annual day where fundraisers are held to support the Cancer Council. Many items will be on sale at the fundraiser, including pins, ‘Dougal’ teddy bears, pens, fridge magnets and key rings. Be sure to get down there on the day and support a great cause.
