The BreastScreen mobile van will be in Canowindra next month. Book today on 13 20 50.

BreastScreen mobile van in Canowindra in March: BreastScreen NSW mobile van will be operating in CANOWINDRA from Thurday, 11 March and Friday, 19 March at the Canowindra Showground.

Why is breast screening important? Breast cancer is most the commonly diagnosed cancer in women in NSW with 1 in 7 women in NSW will be diagnosed with breast cancer by age 85. The strongest risk factors for breast cancer are age and gender with older females being most likely affected. 9 out of 10 women diagnosed with breast cancer do not have a family history.

BreastScreen recommends a mammogram every two years. A mammogram can pick up cancers that cannot be seen or felt, only takes just 20 minutes and could save your life.

To prioritise the wellbeing of women, staff and the community, BreastScreen NSW is taking important measures to limit the transmission of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), you can read more here: www.breast-screen.nsw.gov.au/news/important-pre-screening-information/

Book your appointment on 13 20 50.
SES membership drive: The SES is looking for new recruits in order to continue this necessary service in Canowindra. There will be a community information night at Canowindra Services Club on Tuesday, 23 March at 6:30pm. The night will include information on how to volunteer, what the SES do and how to sign up. New recruits can sign up on the night.

You do not have to work full time to help. You can do an hour a day, week or month with no set timings. There are all kinds of jobs from administration, making sandwiches and filling sand bags to bigger, scarier jobs like using a chainsaw and climbing on roofs. If you can walk, wheel or crawl, we need you! Open to all ages 16 and above.

Calling for Meals on Wheels Volunteers: Meals on Wheels is looking for volunteers to assist with the delivery of meals to senior members of the local community.

Meals on Wheels is so much more than just a meal. These senior members of the community look forward to their meals and the friendly faces that drop in with these meals. All that is needed is only an hour of your time each month and a commitment of 12 months. Full training is provided by our staff.

Put a smile on someone’s face today and call the Home and Community Care office on 6344 1199 and speak to a staff member to register as a volunteer.
