Off to the Races: Racing season has begun! Tommy Jeffs is proud to be representing Canowindra this year starting with the Bedgerabong Picnic Races last weekend. Tommy introduced himself to Deputy PM Michael McCormack who recognised Tommy and said his wife had been listening to Tommy’s podcast throughout lockdown last year.
Do Not Miss Out on Mental Health Workshop: Rural Minds will be hosting a mental health workshop in Cargo this Saturday 20th. Fundraiser Postponed: The Canowindra Hospital Fundraiser at Canowindra Golf Club has been postponed until 6th March. The day will include a two-person ambrose with an auction, prizes and sausage sizzle. $25 per person.
More Liveable Community Grants: Community groups in Cabonne are being urged to apply for Council grants to improve the “liveability” of their areas, with applications open this week for the second round of Cabonne Council’s 2020-21 Community Assistance Program grants. Each project will be assessed on its merits and the relative benefit it will return to the community. Grants are provided on a 50:50 basis.
Applications for CAP funding open on Thursday 18 February 2021 and will close at 5pm on Thursday 1 April 2021. The application form will be available on Council’s website www.cabonne.nsw.gov.au from Thursday 18 February. New Graduate Nurses in Local Hospitals: More than 100 graduate nurses and midwives will start working in Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD) hospitals this year as part of their annual new graduate intake. The recruits will be based across the District, including ten mental health nurses located at Bloomfield Hospital.
Canowindra’s Girl: Canowindra native Sophie Payten, known by her stage name Gordi, has not forgotten her roots. The singer performed at the Cowra Civic Centre last weekend.
