Photo’s Needed: The Canowindra Historical Society are looking for anyone who may have a photo of the new proposed service station site in Gaskill Street from the 1950’s-1960’s when a petrol station was possibly operating. The Society understand that it only operated, if at all, for two years and closed in the early 1960’s. There is division of opinion as to if it ever operated commercially. It would seem fairly safe to say it hasn’t for the past sixty years, however it would be good to have some proof. If you do have an image please contact Chris Berkeley via email at heritage@canowindrahistory.com it would be appreciated to add to the Historical Society’s collection. Original photos will be copied and returned to the owner.
Location of AED’s: The Canowindra Health Council is putting together a map of where the Defibrillators (AEDs) are situated in the Canowindra community, so if you have one or know where there is one please email Geoffrey Beath at geoffrey@brytonwool.com.au
Meetings Resume: The Canowindra AlAnon group is restarting this Thursday 11th June at 2pm at Orana House.
Phoenix Poll: We would love to hear from you if you have missed out on having The Canowindra Phoenix delivered to your mailbox recently. Simply email editor@canowindraphoenix.com.au, call 6344 1846 or PM on Facebook.
Billimari Hall Upgrade: Riverina MP and Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack says Billimari and Greenethorpe will share in nearly $1.5 million in funding to further assist small communities through the drought. The Federal Government funding has been provided under Round 16 of the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal’s (FRRR) Tackling Tough Times Together program. “I am glad to see these grants providing much-needed support to our hard-hit regional communities at such a crucial time, with this latest round of funding to be delivered to community groups,” said Mr McCormack. Some $58,677 will go towards a $59,456 upgrade of the kitchen at Billimari Hall, which will increase safety and amenity for local community events and meetings.
