Name Change For New Queens Club – Tommy Jeff’s hosted his first ‘Queen’s Club Luncheon’ at Montrose House on Thursday. Tommy said the event, which was originally called the First Wives Club, had a name change after a talk at Montrose. “The ladies said ‘we don’t want to be the first wife we want to be the only wife’ and I agreed with them! There’s a queen’s club in Sydney where lots of elegant ladies go for lunch so we decided that would be a
good choice of name” Tommy said. The event was a great success with 15 ladies attending.

Moorbel Markets Are Back! On Saturday 5th March from 8am until 12 noon at Moorbel Hall, an eclectic range of stalls will be available. Find everything from vegetables, free range eggs and Doug’s gourmet potatoes to goats milk soap, bic-a-brac and lovely homemade cooking. There will also be beautiful items with that personal touch, jewellery and jams. A barbecue will offer up sausage or rissole sandwiches and you can also enjoy a cup of tea and a scone.

Feeling Crafty? The Canowindra Creative Centre (Triple C) are meeting on 7th March from 10.30am to 12 noon at Canowindra CWA to attend an ‘Introduction to Mosaic’. Basic equipment will be provided to create your very own mosaic while you enjoy great company in a friendly environment. Tea and biscuits will be provided and donations welcomed. For further information contact Deb on 6344 2490.

Stork News – Sarah Isaacs and Jayden Brown had the Central West’s first leap year baby on Monday 29th February. Jaxton Kenneth Brown, named after his great grandfather, Garry McClintock, is a healthy, 3540 grams boy. Proud grandparents are James and Kari Isaacs, Kim McClintock and Terri Isaacs.

Domestic Violence Re-Offenders in Police Sights – Andrew Gee has welcomed the announcement of a state-wide rollout of Suspect Target Management Plans to target repeat domestic violence offenders. “Sadly, too many people in our community suffer domestic and family violence at the hands of someone they know and trust,” Mr Gee said; “ The NSW Government is determined to put an end to this.” People needing information, help or support should call 1800 RESPECT on 1800 737 732.

Wedding Bells – Congratulations to Mel and Doug who celebrated their engagement party on Saturday at the Royal Hotel!

Following In His Father’s Footsteps

15 April, 2021 By editor

When Beau Wheeldon competed in the State Little Athletics, he was literally running in his father’s footsteps. He won the under 10s 100 metre sprint, some 35 years after his dad, Marc Wheeldon, earned the same place in the same race. “It is very special to share it,” said Marc. “It was really cool to […]
