Christmas Day Lunch: Canowindra’s 7th Christmas Day Lunch will again be held at the Canowindra Bowling Club. Booking forms are now available at Muzzy’s Quality Meats, Vinnies and Food Basket. Please put your name down by Friday 20th December. No cost. This is a no alcohol community event. All welcome. If you require transport to and from the lunch it is available in the Canowindra community. 13 Days of Double Demerit Points: NSW Police are reminding motorists to drive safely and to remember that double demerits are in place for 13 days over the Christmas and New Year holiday period. Double demerits start on Friday 20 December 2019 and run through to New Year’s Day on Wednesday 1 January 2020 (inclusive) and apply for all speeding, seat belt, motorcycle helmet and mobile phone offences. Drivers caught using their phones during a double demerit period can expect to be hit with the fine as well as up to 10 demerits. Friday 20 December is a gazetted school day – so double demerits will apply to relevant school zone offences.
Cabonne Council Closures: Offices at Molong, Cudal and Canowindra will be closed from 3pm Tuesday 24 December 2019 until Thursday 2 January 2020. Kerbside garbage collections will operate as normal during the Christmas-New Year period. Cargo, Canowindra, Cumnock and Manildra waste disposals depots will be closed on Christmas Day, but all waste depots will operate as normal on other days during the holiday period. Cabonne Community Transport will be unavailable from Wednesday 25 December 2019 until Monday 13 January 2020. Anyone wish- ing to make an urgent inquiry or report an emergency should call (02) 6392 3234. For life-threatening emergencies or to report a bush fire, call 000.
