$1million for Drought Affected Communities: Drought-hit communities will share in more than $1 million for community projects under the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal’s Tackling Tough Times Together program. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael Mc- Cormack said the Foundation supports Australia’s regional communities experiencing the devastating effects of drought. Grants are managed by the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) and funded by more than 15 donors including government, business and individuals. The Federal Government has committed $15 million over three years. Applications for the programme are always open and groups in drought-affected areas are encouraged to apply. More information on the

program and the latest round of recipients can be found at www.frrr.org.au/grants/TTTT or at www.regional.gov.au/regional/programs.

ANFD A Success: Australian National Field Days Manager Jayne West labelled last weekend’s annual event as a huge success, in the wake of the current drought. She said attendance was slightly down on Thursday and Friday compared with previous years, but up on Saturday. She said many families attended on the weekend, enjoying far more than just the agricultural stalls, with petting zoos, jumping castles, and entertainment including a bike show all on for attendees.
