Catch of the Week: Graeme “Kiwi” Smyth caught this Rock Cod recently while fishing in the Northern Territory. If you have a great catch to share please send it to editor@canowindraphoenix.com.au

Cabonne Council Offers Free Pet Microchipping: Cabonne residents will be able to take advantage of free dog and cat microchipping offered by Cabonne Council this month. The service will be provided on Wednesday 23 May 2018 at the council’s
Canowindra depot in Armstrong Street on the northern outskirts of the town. The session will run from 10am to 1pm. Owners
will not be limited to the number of dogs or cats they can have microchipped, but must book a time slot for each animal. A limited
number of free dog or cat tri-annual vaccination vouchers are also available for Cabonne residents only and can be obtained
by contacting the council’s Environmental Services Department on 6392 3247. The vouchers are limited to one per household and can be redeemed at Molong, Canowindra and Orange veterinary clinics. Vouchers must be used before Friday 29 June 2018.

Don’t Forget: This Sunday 13th May is Mother’s Day so spoil Mum with something special!

SCAM Alert: There have been a number of reports in our area of scammers trying to get iTunes vouchers from potential victims. The scammer contacts a person advising them that their computer may have a fault and they need to be paid to repair it; that the tax office has a warrant for their arrest and they can pay the fine with iTunes cards or to pay a release fee for an additional payment, such as from Centrelink. The scammer demands that the victim attends a local shop and buys iTunes gift cards to pay, sometimes thousands of dollars of value. If questioned at the shop, the scammer will warn the victim to say they are purchasing the cards for their children.
There are no legitimate businesses or government departments that will ask for payment with iTunes cards. If you fall for this scam it is virtually impossible to get your money back.

The Royal Wedding: The countdown is on for the Royal wedding with only 9 days until Prince Harry marries Ms Megan Markle
in Windsor. The wedding will take place on Saturday 19th May and will be broadcast right around the world!
