Sing Canowindra’s Choral Workshop Choir

Sing Canowindra’s Choral Workshop Choir

The Sing Canowindra choral workshop was held last week on the 25th May at the CWA Hall which was held by folk@canowindra and facilitated by Christina Mimmocchi. This opportunity was made possible through funding by the Country Arts Support Programme, via Artsoutwest.  Participants in the workshop travelled from Canberra, Sydney, Grenfell, Cowra, Dubbo, Forbes and Canowindra. The songs were written and arranged by Christina Mimmocchi, including a song sung in Wiradjuri; the choir also performed one of Nerida Cuddy’s songs. The day was catered for by the CWA Hall who served up a delicious lunch for the singers. Once the singers were trained up and their nerves had settled, they ventured to the Taste Canowindra to perform in front of an audience of 25.  This was followed by a solo set by Christina Mimmocchi.

“People came from near and far to take part, and stayed at our local motels and pubs, which is great for our little town, a real boost for Canowindra’s image and a real economic boost as well”, Founder of folk@canowindra Nerida Cuddy said.

“I think it’s great that CASP has got involved and enabled little towns like Canowindra to experience events like this. There will be a second series concert in August also funded by CASP featuring Dr Kim Cunio who will not only be performing at the folk@canowindra club, but also local schools”, Nerida stated.
