Following the success of the initial leak detection program, the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) has commenced a second round of water leak detection across the Cabonne area.
Specialist contractors are once again using advanced techniques including acoustic listening devices, pressure testing, thermal imaging, and correlating loggers to identify leaks within high-priority Local Water Utilities (LWUs).These efforts aim to reduce water loss, prevent costly infrastructure repairs, and protect environmental resources.
In the previous round conducted in September 2023, 47 leaks were detected across Cabonne’s 60km water network, amounting to an estimated 72.5 megalitres of water loss per year.
The current round of inspections continues DCCEEW’s commitment to proactive water management and infrastructure sustainability in regional NSW.
