The organising committee for Baroquefest have been monitoring the development of the COVID-19 crisis, always optimistic with the hope that this year’s festival would still be able to go ahead. Unfortunately however, the decision has now been made to officially cancel the 2020 festival.
Baroquefest is a 3 day festival celebrating the beautiful music & song from the Baroque Era. Last year’s event was the fifth annual Baroquefest and saw motel rooms and most other accommodation houses in Canowindra and surrounds booked out. The town saw many visitors over the course of the weekend with twenty-five accomplished musicians of national and international standing coming to perform at some of the beautiful locations around town.
The decision to cancel this year’s event was obviously not an easy one to make but with the current restrictions and the uncertainty surrounding the near future the committee wasn’t necessarily left with much other choice.
The good news is, the sixth Baroquefest is now booked in for September 17-19, 2021, with an exciting program of performers and genres being organised now. The committee have also just received a generous grant from Destination NSW to ensure the program can continue in 2021, and are very grateful for this support.
While September 2021 seems a long way off, please note September 17-19 in your diaries and follow Baroquefest Canowindra on Facebook to keep informed of the exciting announcement of artists, concert schedules, program details and online ticket sales. Let’s hope that by then, COVID-19 will be a distant memory and that we will again be able to rejoice in the wonderful music and togetherness that has become the hallmark of Baroquefest.
