Rural Round-Up…Mixed Results For Forbes Cattle And Lamb Sales

KMWL ( Kevin Miller Whitty Lennon) is one of the leading Stock and Station Agents in Forbes and the Central Western district. The head office is in Forbes but Agents are based at the surrounding districts of Young, Cumnock, Canowindra and Condoblin. We caught up with Paul, who is the agent based in Canowindra and Alicia, the Administration and Sales Processing Officier, to get an update on the cattle sale that took place in Forbes this Monday. 2173 were yarded and competition was weaker with not all the usual buyers operating. Yearlings were 3 to 5c easier and heavy steers were slightly cheaper than usual. Cows fell another 8 to 10c compared to last week’s sale. A sheep sale took place in Forbes the following day with 38000 yarded including 28000 lambs. Lamb quality was good with all weights of prime lambs well supplied. Despite a 50% increase in numbers competition was keen and prices for trade lambs were up to $3 dearer. All other lambs sold at firm rates compared to last week’s sale.
