The Canowindra Pythons took on the Condobolin Rams on Sunday in a semi-determining who would play West Wyalong in the final on Saturday, before the Grand Final against the Blayney Rams.
Even though the weather wasn’t full of sunshine, the Canowindra supporters made up for it by nearly out numbering the Condobolin supporters, at their home ground. The wet conditions made it difficult to control the ball and Condobolin secured the lead early 7-0.
With halftime nearing the Pythons had a number of attempts at scoring, but they couldn’t get past the Rams strong defence. The Pythons soon pushed back harder, which saw Sean Wyburn charge his way through to score under the post and Tom Roth successfully converted the try and at half time the
score was even at 7-7.
The Pythons came back out strong with most of the ball play in our attacking half. With everyone working as a team Ronald Lawrence was able to push over the line to score and Tom Roth kept it up by successfully converting his second try, making the score 14-7. With a 7-point lead the Pythons continued to hold out Condobolin for the remainder of the game.
The cheers from the Canowindra supporters sounded the end of the game with the Pythons victorious. Thank you to the Canowindra supporters who got behind the Pythons and travelled to Condobolin on Sunday. The Pythons will now travel to West Wyalong this Saturday to play for a spot in the grand final.
