Last Sunday, two out of the three tiger teams progressed to the next stage of the semi-final series. Unfortunately, the League Tag girls dropped out in a very entertaining game to watch.
First Grade were convincing winners defeating Condobolin 56-6 in a torrid match with a couple of players sent from the field, Condobolin in the first half and Canowindra in the 2nd half. Condobolin struck first with a well-constructed try to lead early but this was they’re only scoring of points in the match. The Tigers held their line strong repelling everything Condobolin through at them. The Tigers in control at the break 30-6. The combination through the forward pack was working a treat with NathanWhatman, Diggy Mariner, Aaron Earsmanone try each and Shi Mariner scoring two.The backs didn’t miss out with centre Offer scoring a hat trick, Luke Watt and JackGrant one each. Jack Grant had a greatday with boot kicking six goals and RyanClarke one goal. Clarke was at usual bestmaking many metres from the kick return.
Coach Ronnie Lawrence returned to field after a long layoff from injury and captain Lewis Dywer was at his best with many bustling runs. The Tigers now have a week off to recoup and ready themselves for the Grand Final qualifier at Tom Clyburn Oval on 19th or 20th August.
Under 18‘s played some of the best footy for the season and feeding Grant for 28 points to 10. Feature of the game was a hat-trick of tries to front rower Cooper Scifleet. He was well supported by Jacob Bezzet and Harry Hazleton. Tommy Turner and Jack Patrick were solid in the backs.
In League tag the girls played their hearts out and were on top midway through the first half leading 14- 4 but made some costly errors just before the break and CSU scored two converted tries to lead 16-14.The second half was very close with either giving an inch and there was no change in the score line until late. CSU run in a couple of tries to seal the victory 28-14.
