Canowindra pork producer, David Refalo, had a childhood dream to take on a niche business market – large scale free range pig farming. At the young age of 12, David’s father bought him his first pig and it has been a continuous success story from there. With the help from his father, David converted an old livestock shed to house his newest addition. Little did David and his family know, but this was the beginning of something extraordinary.
Twenty years have passed and David now runs 800 free range pigs. This operation is an extremely difficult and tedious business venture but due to hard work and dedication, it has clearly paid off.
David’s success is evident In the demand for his pork with 95% of his produce going towards butchery across Eastern Australia. Due to these successes, David has an exceptionally exciting project in the works.
Although in the infant stages of planning, David has planned a shop front in Cowra. This shop will be run with a business partner and will stock the Refalo Free Range Pork.
Not only is this an exciting project for David, but it is also an exciting development for Cowra, Canowindra and the surrounding areas as they will have access to this ethically sourced meat.
David Refalo has become a renowned producer as his heartwarming story and extensive knowledge has made him a loveable character. He continues to impress professionals within his industry with his drive and continuous success of maintaining a difficult production.
