Kat D’Anastasi is happy to have customers back in her salon.
With Canowindra coming out of COVID-19 lockdown last week, most retail businesses have seen customers streaming through their doors, with more freedoms available.
Hairdressers have been swamped with customers feeling a bit scruffy after not being able to get in for a touch up for a while.
Kat D’Anastasi owns her own salon, Kat’s Hair Boutique.
Demand hasn’t stopped since the end of lockdown was announced. She said customers have been glad to be back, hoping there’s big bins for all the hair.
“My Facebook messages just didn’t stop. It felt so good to be back to normal,” Ms D’Anastasi said.
She said everyone has been so patient and kind, with cuts and colors being very popular.
“Everyone has needed big haircuts. But I have seen some pretty groovy at home cuts,” she said.
“Being open with lots of people wanting their hair done, it’s been really nice.”
Ms D’Anastasi has worked in busy salons before, but has brought in her sisters Jolene and Sienna to assist with cleaning up after and answering the phone and messages as the pace is different.
Her advice to customers is: “don’t box dye your hair, or cut your hair. Keep the scissors and colours for the hairdresser.”
Ms D’Anastasi has a COVIDsafe business plan in place.
Everyone coming into the salon has to wear a mask, check in and sanatise before entering. There are only a certain number of customers allowed in the salon.
