Resouces For Regions Launches The Age Of Fishes Museum Into The New Age

Our very own world-renowned Age of Fishes Museum is set to receive $100,000 to redevelop the museum, upgrading the museum space so it can continue provide vital presentation of the artefacts in the museum.

NSW Upper House MP Sam Farraway recently joined NSW Nationals Candidate for Orange Tony Mileto to announce $100,000 to support Cabonne Shire Council’s masterplan a new museum space for the iconic Age of Fishes Museum in Canowindra. 

Mr Farraway said the funding would ensure Council could undertake a curatorial study and feasibility analysis to redevelop the museum.

“The Age of Fishes Museum is a world-renowned museum showcasing ancient fish fossils from the Devonian period discovered in the Central West,” Mr Farraway.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW Paul Toole said Resources for Regions has delivered 355 projects worth $560 million to mining communities since its inception in 2012, stimulating local economies and delivering critical infrastructure.

“The Resources for Regions program is about giving back to these mining communities that contribute so much to the NSW economy,” Mr Toole said.

“This is great news for the community and I am thrilled the Liberals and Nationals in Government are able to show an ongoing commitment to delivering projects that benefit our community, and contribute to our local economy,” explains Mr Toole.

Since 2012, Resources for Regions has supported economic and social prosperity in mining communities in regional NSW, with the $140 million Round Nine expanded to support communities where gas exploration or mining may occur. 

The $560 million Resources for Regions is part of the NSW Government’s $3.3 billion Regional Growth Fund, designed to support growing regional centres, activate local economies and improve services and infrastructure for regional communities.
