Reminder: Farmland Rating Category Form Due Monday, 2 February 2026

28 January, 2026 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Council is reviewing its current rating structure to ensure that the rating system is fair and equitable across all Cabonne rate payers. The review process is simply intended to confirm that landholders are being charged the correct rates for their property, in line with the categorisation set out in the legislation.

It is common practice for councils that have significant farming activity within their Local Government Area to implement farmland rating categories and an application and review process.

To ensure fairness and compliance, Council has introduced a revised Farmland Application process. Property owners will need to complete a Farmland Application Form every four years to confirm their eligibility.

Letters have been posted to all current Farmland Rating holders with details on how to complete the application. All applications must be submitted by 2 February 2026.

For more information or to complete the application visit www.cabonne.nsw.gov.au/Council/Rates-Information/Farmland-Rating-Category. For questions, please contact council on 6392 3200 or email council@cabonne.nsw.gov.au
