The CWA Canowindra Branch have relocated one of the soft plastic collection bins. It is now located just inside the doors of the HACC Office and Central West Library at 70 Gaskill Street, Canowindra.
There is another soft plastic collection bin inside the Foodworks store in Canowindra if you need to dispose of your clean, dry soft plastic.
A reminder of what types of soft plastics can be recycled: bread bags, biscuit packet wrappers, paper goods packaging, pasta and rice bags, frozen vegie bags, plastic bags, cereal box liners and old green bags.
Plastic bottles and plastic containers CANNOT be recycled in these bins. Also no general waste or other recycling items can go into these bins either.
It’s soft plastic if it can be scrunched into a ball!
Volunteers from the Canowindra CWA branch empty these bins and take them to Orange to be recycled into outdoor furniture. If the bags are contaminated the whole bag is sent to landfill.
The CWA would like to thank the community members who do the right thing and reduce, recycle and reuse waste!
