Dear Editor
It astounds me that our Mayor as quoted in last week’s Age of Fishes Museum article can view council funding of the museum as a ‘drain on council income’.
I would have thought that the funding would be viewed by council as money well spent benefiting not just Canowindra but all of the Cabonne Shire. The tourist attraction and consequent financial benefits which flow from having this museum, I suspect, would outweigh the funding costs.
If the museum is a ‘world class anthropological attraction’ as stated in the article I would have thought Cabonne Shire would be doing all in its power to maintain the funding and if needed increase it.
It concerns me that the Mayor obviously undermines such an important asset which makes me question his suitability for the position he represents.
Regards,
Geoff Yeo
