Dylan Gower and Arthur Falconer are calling for any locals interested in cleaning up Canowindra’s old railway. The area they would be targeting is the rail precinct past the Age of Fishes Museum, with the aim to progressively convert the area to a park and get the buildings in a suitable condition to allow community use. “The students from UNSW did a great job on concept plans which should be the basis for future discussion and planning” said Arthur; “We have created a Facebook page, ‘Canowindra Railway Park’ and are looking for interested locals to like the page, join us in discussions and help in any way they can.”
Cabonne Council have expressed their interest in the project and the duo have full support of the John Holland Group who manage the area for the NSW railways. Arthur says that their objective is not to resurrect the rail nor to make it a rail history museum. “We want to make it a public, community area sympathetic with its history and renovate and preserve any rail infrastructure that is not beyond repair” said Arthur. If you would like to get involved or know more please call Arthur on 0408 416 034.
