Pythons News…

29 June, 2016 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Another wet and muddy Saturday set the scene for the match against the Grenfell Panthers at Grenfell. Both teams began the game by dropping a lot of ball which led to lots of muddy scrums on the pitch. The Pythons soon gained the upper hand thanks to Luke Watt and Jayden Brown’s kicking games which led to field possession and the Pythons were awarded the first try of the game with Adam Grant barging over the lines from five out. The end of the first half was Pythons 5 Grenfell 0.

The second half began the same as the first. Despite efforts by the Panthers the Pythons line was impregnable. Midway through the second half Jack Grant picked up on a loose ball and ran forty metres to score the Pythons second try out wide, giving them a 10-0 lead which they continued to defend through the second half. The final score of the game was Pythons 10 Grenfell 0.

The boys take on Cootamundra next weekend, kick off at 3.15 and high hopes for better weather! Three points went to Jack Knight, two point to Jayden Brown and one point went to Luke Watt and Ronnie Lawrence. Players’ player was awarded to Jack Knight.

On the 16th July the Pythons will have a home game against Condo. On this day Ladies Day, Sponsors Day and Members Day are being combined to create one big event, so be sure not to miss it!
