Since starting business as a licenced on-farm butchery in 2012, Stephen & Dorothy Tamplin’s Pride of Oak Dorper meat has been well received. As well as processing their own Dorpers for sale in standard cuts, the completion of a sheep and goat abattoir now also provides a private kill service for people with their own animals.
“There is an inc reasing trend for people to grow their own poddy lambs and when they’re big enough they get them slaughtered because they want to know where their meat comes from. At the Pride of Oak, a ultra-violet water treatment process is used, no chemically-treated water is used, so there are no chlorine or fluoride residues on the carcasses. Cleaner meat ensures healthier eating.” Stephen says.
The produce is now stocked in several regional country stores, and comments received about flavour and tenderness is pleasing.
With Christmas fast approaching orders are being taken for legs and shoulder roasts, but all standard cuts are available. Whole lamb for spit roasts can also be ordered anytime.
