On Saturday August 20 the Canowindra Golf Club hosted a special fundraiser day for Canowindra Preschool. Around 30 players took part on the day in cool conditions, in both the nine hole and 18 hole Ambrose competitions. As the aim of the day was just to have some fun, winners were not those with the highest nett score, but those with the score closest to that randomly selected by the Canowindra Golf Club committee.
As part of the fun, each team that entered had to have at least one child or female in the team, otherwise face a hefty handicap. The nine-hole competition was won by C Bligh, P Bligh, K Chinnich and D Slattery, while the 18 hole competition was won by J Fairley, G Fairley, D Ebert, and M Millar. The longest drive winner was Nadine Daley, and the nearest to pin winner was D Skipper. The golf bag raffle winner was Dan Ebert and the lamb raffle winner was Fergus Townsend. All in all it was a good day, with a total of $867 raised for the Canowindra Preschool. A big thank you must go to everyone that helped make the day work out, and a special thanks must go to to David and Christina Rice, who sponsored the golf prizes. Thank you also to Tony Grant for the lamb donation, and the Canowindra Bottle Shop for their kind donation. It was greatly appreciated.
Malcolm Millar, Canowindra Golf Club President.
