Our Gal – Susan Cheevers

Susan Cheevers

How long have you lived in or around Canowindra and what do you like about living here? I am new to Canowindra. My partner and I moved in April before going on a planned 5 week holiday. We love small country towns where people know you and have always liked Canowindra.

How are you involved with the community? We have been fortunate to move into Rivers Road Organic Farms which is a beautiful community inside a wonderful community. I can’t wait to join the Garden Club and have joined the library as well.

Where do you work and what do you enjoy most about where you work? I run Wildflower Garden Maintenance and Permaculture 0400 008 887. I care and tend to people’s gardens creating happy spaces for people and their families. This makes me happy.

What do you do to unwind on weekends? Weekends are spent in my own garden. I love Dragon Boating and I am a member of the Colour City Dragons in Orange. I love to fish and kayak, sometimes both at the same time.

What are you really good at? Some would say talking, my high school teachers can’t be wrong, but in general I try to be good at anything I do. I love a challenge.

What’s your pet hate? My pet hate is people being late. It says that your time is not important.

Tell us about your best holiday ever… I have been fortunate to travel here and abroad, each trip has been incredible and unique and cannot compare. I like adventures, the last one a 10,500km trip to Kununurra and back to do the Ord River Marathon in a dragon boat.

What makes your day? I love to watch the sun set every night in my garden. It makes me happy.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself… I was a hairdresser for 30 years and traded trimming hair for trimming hedges.
