Our Gal – Pippa Hatton

17 November, 2022 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Pippa Hatton

How old are you? I am 11.

Where do you go to school? I go to Canowindra Public School and I am in year 5.

Where do you live? I live on a farm on Nanami Lane and My Dad lives in Manildra.

Where were you when it was flooding on Sunday? We had just got home from a trip to Sydney and we couldn’t get home. There was too much water on the Longs Corner Road and we couldn’t get home.

What did you do next? We went to the SES shed at 6.30pm and we made sand bags until 11pm. I was very tired but we got to stay in a hotel which exciting and a bit awkward.

What happened on Monday? There was no school so we went to see if they needed help at the evacuation centre. They needed breakfast so we went to Foodworks to get it for them. Foodworks brought down the food and I helped set it up.

What do you like most about helping people? I felt good to be helping people, seeing my friends helping out as well.

What job did you like helping with the most? Sandbagging and I’d like to go in the SES truck.
