Our Gal – Karen McMullen

27 February, 2020 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

How long have you lived in or around Canowindra and what is the best thing about living here? I have lived in Cargo for 30 years. I enjoy the community vibe, caring people and location.

Where do you work or what do you do currently and what do you enjoy about it? I work at Courallie Park Early Learning Centre in Orange. I enjoy playing, laughing, singing and reading stories to the children.

What is your favourite thing to do when you have free time? Hanging out with my family and friends. I also like listening to 70’s and 80’s music.

What makes you proud? My kind and thoughtful girls Jess and Jacinta.

If you could be an animal which one would you choose and why? A Chameleon as it changes colours and has exceptional vision (then I could throw away my glasses!)

What is your all-time favourite movie, song and/or book, and why? Love Actually is my favourite movie – I love Christmas time and any excuse to sing Christmas carols.

What is on your bucket list? To see the Taj Mahal.

What are you really good at? Sleeping and washing clothes, I love the challenge of a stubborn stain.

Tell us about your best holiday ever? A houseboat cruise on the Murray River with friends and seven teenagers.

What makes your day? A morning walk followed by a trip to the coffee shop.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself? I am superstitious about “shoes on the table” as it brings bad luck.
