Our Gal – Jessica Balken

16 February, 2023 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Jessica Balken

How long have you lived in Canowindra and what do you love most about it? I grew up in Canowindra, but moved to the Central Coast when I was 12. I moved back to Canowindra about 13 years ago and love raising my children on our family farm. I also love the tight community.

You and your husband, Jake are proud Canowindra business owners, what is it that you both do? Yes, between us we own JB Towing, JB Panel & Paint and also Jessica Elizabeth Photography.

What do you like most about working in a community like Canowindra? Being such a tight community, it doesn’t take long for people to know who you are, which makes starting a business a little easier. So far we have had alot of support from locals which has been wonderful.

Do you have any hobbies? I would say photography is as much my hobby as it is work, but I also enjoy working in my vegetable garden, when my 1 year old allows me to.

What do you like to do to relax? With four kids at home, there isn’t a lot of time to relax, but I really enjoy sitting beside the pool and watching the kids play.

If you could travel anywhere right now, were would you like to go? I’d love to travel around Australia with my family and visit every waterfall I can!

How are you involved in the community? My kids do dancing with Alikinetic dance. Aside from that we are currently putting all our effort into building on our businesses.

If you had $10,000 to spend, what would you spend it on? I would put that towards a caravan to travel around Australia. All I want is to go out and make memories with my family.
