Dianne (Di) Gill
How long have you lived in or around Canowindra and what is the best thing about living here? We moved to Canowindra six years ago. Canowindra is a beautiful town and we are lucky we live in a great street with lovely neighbours. Finally I love all the coffee shops and art that I share when we have visitors.
Where do you work or what do you do currently and what do you enjoy about it? I have a position with the Western NSW Local Health District as the Rural Adversity Mental Health Program Coordinator. I enjoy the diversity of the activities from education sessions, to craft days to sometimes just sitting and talking to people.
What is your favourite thing to do when you have free time? Free time is often spent just catching up with the house work. Family are very important to me so I spend a lot of time communicating with them.
What makes you proud? I am extremely proud of my three children and the way they have taken up their roles in society. Also, I love seeing positive outcomes when people have attended training or other sessions that I have run.
If you could be an animal which one would you choose and why? Probably a meerkat, they are those cute little animals that sit back on their hind legs keeping an eye out on the family, friends and community it suits me.
What is your all-time favourite movie, song and/or book, and why? I love musicals on screen or on the stage and cannot go past “Singing in the Rain” or “Grease” if they are on TV I have to watch them.
What is on your bucket list? More travel, we have just bought a motor home so that we can visit more places in Australia.
What are you really good at? I am told I am good at listening and talking in fact my husband says I can talk under water with a mouth full of marbles. I would also like to think I am good at being a friend.
Tell us about your best holiday ever?
We have been fortunate to do a lot of travel but the best holiday was a tour of Europe.
