Our Bloke – Wallace Stranger

8 June, 2023 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Wallace Stranger

Where were you born? Orange NSW.

Were you named after anyone? My Scottish ancestor, William Wallace.

Do you have a nick name? Wal.

How long have you lived in Canowindra? And what do you like about it? I have lived in Canowindra my whole life, what I like most is the people, how central Canowindra is and the productive country.

What do you do for work? I am a farmer.

What’s your favourite part about farming? That there is variety of jobs and enterprises, working outdoors and working with livestock.

Greatest risk you’ve ever taken? Buying the butcher shop! and flood fencing in croc infested waters.

Best advice you could give someone? It can never hurt to ask the question. Worst case you get told no. Take everything you hear with a grain of salt.

Had $10,000 to spend today, what would you spend it on? $10,000 worth of sausages and rissoles for all Canowindra locals!

Three things you would take to a desert island? An esky full of meat from Canowindra Butchery, my dog and the love of my life.

When are you happiest? When surrounded by green pastures and well conditioned livestock on a sunny day and serving meat over the counter at Canowindra Butchery.
