Our Bloke – Tommy Jeffs

16 September, 2021 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

How has lockdown affected you? It has stopped all my business. There have been no guests staying since July. It has given me a deserved holiday as it had been crazy up until then.

What have you been doing to keep busy during lockdown? I had the house painted top to bottom. All the gardens have been done and everything has been cleaned. I cleaned today. Tomorrow I might polish the silverware. I had to cancel my birthday party. But coming up, we have a goldie oldie luncheon and a bus coming from Cowra on my actual birthday. The next project in planning is a Melbourne Cup luncheon.

What’s your exercise regime been like? I walk with my girls every morning.

What have you added to the menu? When we open back up again, we’ll be doing new high teas and special dinners as well as breakfast on the weekends.

What’s the first thing you look forward to doing when lockdown lifts? Getting a haircut. I’m starting to look like Gandalf from Lord Of The Rings.

What makes your day? Seeing other people do good for others. My mantra is to treat others the way you want to be treated.

I saw someone pay for an eldery lady’s groceries the other day. It’s also nice to see people paying it forward also. In COVID we all need to take a breath and step back. It’s easy to get edgy while we’re locked up all the time.

What’s something that’s piqued your interest of late? I love the Paralympics. I cried. The athletes are so proud and they carry themselves so well.
