Our Bloke – Owen Lloyd

15 June, 2023 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Where were you born? I was born in the Blue Mountains, where I grew up.

How long have you lived in Canowindra, and what do you love about it? I have lived here for almost 12 years. I love the peacefulness of it all and how everyone is ready to lend a hand if needed.

What do you like to do in your spare time? We, my Wife and three step daughters, live on a farm just outside of Canowindra that takes up a lot of our spare time. We also spend time on the weekends doing day trips when we can.

How are you involved in the community? I am the Unit Commander of Canowindra SES and I enjoy helping my unit members become confident, skilled and capable SES Members. They are a great bunch of people, and I enjoy working with them.

What would you say to someone who may be hesitant about joining the SES or volunteering in general? Just give it a go. We have everyone from farmers to nurses, mums and dads who all have enjoyed experiencing something new and learning skills along the way.

If you had $10,000 to spend today, what would you spend it on? I would take my family on a holiday.

When are you happiest? When I am at home with my family.
