Our Bloke – Joshua Matic

3 February, 2022 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

How long have you been the Publisher of the Canowindra Phoenix? I have been the Publisher of The Canowindra Phoenix since October 2019.

What other Phoenix Publications are you the Publisher of? The Phoenix Group of Newspapers also includes The Cowra Phoenix, The Forbes Phoenix, The Parkes Phoenix and The Blue Mountains Phoenix.

What does owning a community based regional publication mean to you? It is a great privilege to be able to publish a locally owned newspaper in regional towns. Most mainstream media outlets are owned by national conglomerates, and not by local ABN holders. The Phoenix Group of Newspapers are proudly owned and published right here in the Central West.

You also are the business owner of Yellow House Cowra. What does Yellow House Cowra do on a daily basis? Yellow House Cowra Design & Print is a commercial print and graphic design business. We can do anything from designing and printing DL flyers and business cards to invoice books and even mugs and stubby holders! Visit www.yellowhousecowra.com for more information.

How does Yellow House Cowra and The Phoenix Publications work together? Both businesses fall under the same company and the same ABN. The Phoenix publications are printed each week, in-house, at Yellow House, and not outsourced to an external printing press.

What exciting projects do you have coming up in 2022? I’m very excited to see the return of our ‘Rural Roundup’ quarterly special publication, as well as the return of the Canowindra Balloon Festival and the Parkes Elvis Festival, which always prove to be the two biggest editions of any of our publications each year.
