Our Bloke – Jack Daintith

13 December, 2023 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Who/what are your musical influences? I’m a big fan of Michael Buble! I love all his songs as they are very catchy and great music to sing to.

What songs are your favourites to get a crowd going? I love singing the classics such as Sweet Caroline, Khe Sanh, American Pie, as well as others such as My Girl and Blame it on the Boogie!

You have been involved in many musical theatre productions including professional productions such as Muriel’s Wedding at the Lyric Theatre in Sydney, what has been your favourite character or performance? My favourite role has been playing the UPS Guy in Orange Theatre Company’s Legally Blonde! It was a great role that brought a lot of laughter to the audience!

As a primary school teacher, your students must get a chance to perform in class with you? Do you get any sing-a-longs with the class, if so, what gets the kids singing along these days?! I do a lot of singing with my students at school. They love singing ‘You’ve Got a Friend in Me’.

Between teaching, theatre productions, your own music and podcast ‘Behind the curtains’ you also have time to complete marathons! With over 700 running events behind you, do you listen to music while you run, create lyrics or do you prefer the silence? I tend to listen to both podcasts and music when I run! I listen to a whole range of music, my favourite being the ‘Hamilton’ and ‘Wicked’ albums as well as listening to the podcast ‘The Howie Games’ which is all about sport!
