Our Bloke – Graham Aylen

25 May, 2023 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Where were you born? I was born in Forbes. Then went to Caragabal where i lived most of my life. I now live half in Grenfell and half in Canowindra.

What work do you do now? Dancing is like a part time job. I dance in Canowindra, Orange, Dubbo and Grenfell. I teach dancing at Grenfell in the Church Hall and that is for suicide prevention. Canowindra, we have dance practice every Tuesday at the Services Club. I dance on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Orange.

When are you happiest? I am happiest when I teach someone a dance and you see the light and happiness in them.

What is the best piece of advice you could give someone? To make your physical and mental health the best, take up some form of dancing. There is also the social side of dancing and it helps in making new friends.

Do you have a nickname? Gonzo – from the muppets. I raced go karts for 25 years and my go karting friends gave it to me!

Who is the best dancing partner you have ever had? That has to be Cathie Slattery. Cathie teaches in Canowindra on Tuesday afternoon at the Services Club and she is a wonderful dancer.

Where is your dream holiday location? Right next to a dancing hall where they have dancing day and night!

If you had $10,000, what would you spend it on? $5,000 I would like to give toward suicide prevention. The other $5,000 I would update my car!
