Our Bloke – Barry Heaslip

Barry Heaslip

How long have you lived in or around Canowindra and what do you like about living here? I was born in Canowindra. I came and went from here in the first 20 years of my life and played a fair bit of football with the Pythons. It is a friendly and happy town. You would go a long way to find somewhere that would beat it.

How are you involved in the Canowindra community? I am here weekly doing pest control work. I am also a member of the gun club.

Where do you work and what do you enjoy most about your work? I am the boss at Inland Pest Management which is based in Dubbo, but we cover a massive area. I like the diversity of work, solving different problems, seeing the countryside and meeting people.

What do you do to unwind after work or on weekends? I like to camp, shoot and fish—anything outdoors. Spending time with my family is important too.

What are you good at? Being a happy and friendly fella! I always try to be a good community member.

What is your pet hate? Extreme left-wing politics.

What is on your bucket list? I am going to do the Gibb River Road next year with my wife and I want to live in Europe one day.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why? I would want to be able to end all conflict.
