Following a meeting with the NSW Manager for Community Banking and Engagement for the Bendigo Bank, Wayne Simpson, the past Committee for the Community Bank in Canowindra, met again on Tuesday night to consider a new proposal to move forward.
Wayne Simpson has advised that there are a number of milestones that need to be met, including revisiting the past pledges which were made in 2014, establishing the amount of business on the books based in and around Canowindra, and the establishment of a new committee of people to sit at around 10-12 people from a wide cross section of the community.
Bendigo Bank has given a commitment to ensure that this campaign has every chance to succeed, whilst at the same time building a sustainably profitable business. One of the first steps is to establish an agency and at this stage the committee is inviting interested parties to get in touch. A steering committee workshop for all involved on the committee will be held in the near future.
Cheryl Newsom, past chairperson of the Community Bank Committee is encouraging local people and businesses to get in touch with her if they are interested in being on the committee, are keen to pledge or have a business which would be suitable to be an agency phone 0411 211 065.
