The warm weather brought many visitors to the Canowindra High School P&C’s 5th annual Open Garden Day last Saturday, which was a great social community event and a wonderful showcase for the school and students.
Seven gardens were open around Canowindra, and lunches and morning and afternoon teas were served at the High School Canteen. There was also a raffle
and plant stall, and barista trained students served fabulous coffee.
There were 285 admissions to the gardens this year and 100 lunches were served. Costs have yet to be calculated but estimates are close to $5,000 profit for
the Canowindra High School P & C. Profits from previous years have gone towards improvements for students at the school.
This year the P & C has donated $10,000 towards the school hall curtain upgrade, funded the purchase and installation of a 2nd water cooler, and helped with excursion costs for extracurricular activities. The P & C welcomes suggestions to improve the school for the benefit of the students, and are looking for projects to fund. Any ideas welcome via the P & C contact Ash Wright 0427 448 480.
Winners of the raffle were: 1st Prize – Jean Leggatt: $250 voucher from Canowindra Tyre Service. 2nd Prize – Catia Nowan: Yates Gift Pack. 3rd Prize – Bianca Morrison: Isubscribe gift voucher.
