How long have you lived in or around Canowindra and what do you like about living here? I have lived here my whole life – I am now 74. I love living in a small community, I couldn’t imagine myself living in the city.
How did you earn your Order of Australia Medal? Someone saw that we were doing a lot of voluntary work in the community and decided to nominate us. We did not ask for any rewards.
What are you excited to do in the future? I am in the Garden Club and we have some plans for beautifying areas around the town. I am interested in the Canowindra Mainstreet Precinct Plan and helping with that as well as working with people in need around the town.
How do you like to spend your downtime? I like reading and playing Words With Friends on my iPad.
What advice would you give to young people? I think young people need to realise that they are part of a community and get in and help and volunteer and most of them do. We had all these young people building the hempcrete walls in May out at the Reid triplet’s house. If you see a need, do something about it.
What are you most thankful for? I am most thankful for good health, my family and the Canowindra community.
