News from Canowindra Public School … Principal’s Message

23 July, 2014 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Next Week is Education Week. Our Open Classrooms will be held on Thursday 31st July from 12.15 until 1pm. Please take the opportunity to visit your child’s class and have a look at their work. If you would like to have a meeting with the class teacher, please arrange it for another time, as they are responsible for all the children in the class during Open Class time.

If parents would like to bring a packed lunch to then share with their children in the playground they are welcome.

The Education Week theme for 2014 is “Lighting the way to a better world.” This has been adopted from the 1954 Education Week slogan. I think this shows that although schools have changed hugely in the past 60 years, the main aim, the big picture, is still much the same, giving future citizens the skills to be valuable members of society.

This week’s Insight gives a summary of the “Stop, Think, Act” process, a way of training children to think before reacting when they are angry or anxious. If you have a child who tends to react verbally or physically without thinking of consequences it is well worth the effort to give them these skills.
