Congratulations to the P&C on the success of their Monster Garage Sale on Sunday. It was great to see so many stalls and bargains to be had. Thank you also to the parents and community members who visited our school and contributed to the day’s success – maybe this could become a regular event on our annual calendar.
Each year our Year 10 students participate in a week of work experience which would not be possible without the support of our local businesses and employers. On behalf of our school I would like to publicly acknowledge the amazing support these people show our students each year and to thank them for the contribution they have in helping prepare them for life after school. Our students truly appreciated the opportunities provided last week with all indicating they had a great time “in the real world”. It would also be remiss not to recognise the contributions of Mrs Bev Taylor who, as our Careers Adviser, puts significant effort into matching students with their chosen career goals and the relevant work site and employer.
Congratulations to all of our Year 7 students on their excellent behaviour during last week’s three day camp on Mr Scott’s property under the guidance of Mrs Gregson, Mrs Evans, Mrs
Kinsela and Mr Scott. When Mr Ball and I visited the site on Thursday afternoon we were greeted with very happy students and staff all eager to share with us their experiences and excitement. Some very tired students returned to school Friday afternoon and I thank those parents who helped transport them back to town.
The students and staff extend their congratulations to Rohan Toole who has been successful in being named in the 2014 Australian Team to compete against Malaysia at the Penang Open and the Malaysia Test Match Series. This is a fantastic opportunity for Rohan and rewards his ongoing commitment to pursue achievement at an elite level in squash.
This week, during class time, our students in Years 7 to 10 will complete their Semester 1 exams. On behalf of staff and their peers I wish them well and encourage them to ensure they revise thoroughly to maximise the opportunity to gain the results they have been working for.
Congratulations to Joseph Coady for being last week’s winner of the merit draw.
