Shakespeare Day– Wednesday 9 April
Students have been busily preparing for William Shakespeare’s 450th birthday! Canowindra High will be celebrating on Wednesday with an Elizabethan themed day. Many exciting events have been planned for this day from Elizabethan inspired sport to a Shakespearean themed concert.
Students are encouraged to get into the Elizabethan spirit by dressing as their favourite Shakespearean character or a person from Elizabethan times when William himself lived. Hopefully there will be a few budding Bard’s in our presence.
We will have Elizabethan fare on sale at the canteen. This will include chicken drumsticks, cottage pie and everybody’s favourite; the toffee apple. So remember to bring your money so that you can enjoy these offerings.
The Shakespearean themed concert will feature many of our students. During the concert there will be the all important fashion parade with lots of prizes to be given away. At the conclusion of the concert our school leaders will cut the birthday cake to share amongst staff and students.
Sport will be a plethora of fun-filled Elizabethan sports. Everything from badminton to croquet, as well as a challenge ‘Can Canowindra High School walk from Stratford Upon Avon to London?’ We will have to find out!
