What a wonderful term it has been for our students and staff with many new experiences and opportunities being provided and this week will be no different – excursions, school social, sporting visits and Wednesday’s exciting day of activities focussing on William Shakespeare and his famous works. Congratulations and thank you to everyone who has made this term the success it has been for our students.
On Saturday evening I had the great pleasure of attending the Canowindra High School P&C Debutante ball and to share in the enjoyment of watching most of our Year 11 girls make their debut. The girls looked amazing and the pride of the debutante’s parents and friends was obvious. I would like to acknowledge the efforts of our staff members who worked with the P&C to make this evening the success it was – Mrs Dearne Curtis, Miss Kathy Davis, Mrs Kath Balcombe and Mrs Jacque Kinsela.
With ANZAC Day falling during our upcoming holidays I would like to ask parents to remember to still encourage their children to participate by marching with the school. The school will
acknowledge this very important day on our return to school next term with its own service on Tuesday, 29th March, 2014.
Essays due soon? Learning how to plan, write and polish an essay is a skill that takes a long time for most people to learn. Different types of essays follow different rules of structure. If your teen is currently working on an essay, you’ll find this video (and the links to fact sheets on the right hand side of the page) really useful in explaining the “how to” of essay writing as it’s taught in NSW public schools: http://bit.ly/1lji1mZ
CONGRATULATIONS to Miles McKenzie and Sam Townsend on being last week’s merit draw winner and recipient of the Canteen Voucher.
Next term commences on Tuesday, 29th March, 2014 for students which will be a WEEK B. I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday and look forward to working with you again next term.
