Ancient History
Year 12 are enjoying their study of The Cities of Vesuvius: Pompeii and Herculaneum. This is the compulsory component of the HSC. It is an extraordinary exploration of these ancient cities which reveals the daily lives of Roman citizens in 79 AD.
Year 11 are just finishing their study of Greek Drama by reading Medea, a tragedy written by Euripides. It is a terrible tale of a woman who sacrifices everything for her husband only to have him leave her for a princess. Medea’s response to this betrayal is still relevant in the 21st century as the cultural values of ancient Greece have parallels in today’s world.
