New Meat Mart Coming To Town

5 November, 2014 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

lambs

A Meat Mart is coming to Canowindra, courtesy of Tablelands Premier Meats. Stephen Tamplin, owner, wants to provide produce that’s as organic as possible. All the animals processed for Tablelands are born on Stephens own farm, Pride of Oak and grown in a free range environment. They don’t feedlot their animals and process them in a fully licensed abattoir, with all meat being conveniently pre-packed for sale. Stephen, a health care practitioner with 35 years’ experience in natural and allied medicine, said “with my healthcare background I’m more interested in providing chemical free meat as proper nutrition and effective hygiene are the keys to healthy living. We become what we eat. It partly came about because I was unhappy with the sale yard price for quality stock. We decided to set up an abattoir on our farm so we could butcher our own meat as well as provide service kills to other producers. Knowing where the meat is from and what is in it is important to me.” One of the main advantages of buying and eating Tablelands premier Meats is their no-chemical approach to processing. No chlorines are used in any processes, and they exceed the Australian Standard for organic processing. The Meat Mart provides a retail point for people to access products without having to drive far out of town. Stephen is inviting other local producers to display their wholefood products in the shop, where a wide range of wholefoods and health foods will be available. Meats on offer include; lamb, goat, pork, chicken duck, turkey plus free-range eggs.
When asked about this new venture Stephen said, “I don’t know if I’m excited or petrified!” The Meat Mart will be opening on Thursday 13th November in the late morning with a sausage tasting on the day from their extensive range of gourmet sausages. All are welcome to attend.
