A re-elected NSW Liberal and Nationals Government will launch a new hub to help farmers tap into the value of their natural capital and build new revenue streams while strengthening environmental outcomes on-farm.
The Better Environment, Better Farms Services Hub will be a one-stop-shop run by Local Land Services that offers farmers advice, support and planning strategies to make it easier to participate in emerging environmental markets.
Minister for Agriculture and Western NSW Dugald Saunders said the program will present new opportunities that will complement, not compete with, farmers’ core business of producing food and fibre for NSW.
“After extensive consultation, we know that the agricultural industry is keen to become involved in natural capital but want independent and trusted support to navigate what can be a complex market,” Mr Saunders said.
The funding will go towards new LLS natural capital specialists who will be on ground working with our farmers every step of the way including the development of farm plans linking farmers with natural capital accounts and access to government programs.
The Better Environment Better Farms Services Hub will allow farmers to gain advice and extension services to navigate and take full advantage of environmental programs or generate carbon credits.
