Canowindra Senior League President Andrew Whatman and Canowindra Rugby Union President James Watson flicking on the new lights for the first time last Saturday.
One flick of a switch on Saturday in Canowindra and a new era of community sport has begun.
Last Saturday saw the launch of the new lights at The Canowindra Sports Complex with an action packed day of football going well into the night for both Rugby Union and Rugby League.
Late afternoon or night football matches will now free up time for all volunteers of both league and union clubs. It also enables easier scheduling with games and codes as participation in both winter codes of football, Rugby League and Rugby Union reach incredible numbers in Canowindra.
The Canowindra Pythons are excited to be hosting two Friday night games under lights. The Club have lined up one game against Blayney on 27th May and their last home game of the year will also be played under lights against Molong.
“This is a great result for Canowindra, the local clubs and Sports Trust have worked alongside Cabonne Council with this project for a few years now and it is great to see it completed,” said Clr Andrew Pull.
