All community members are being invited to suggest names for the new bridge across the Lachlan River at Gooloogong. The $16.4 million bridge, which was opened in February, links Cowra and Cabonne Shires.
‘Cowra Council is calling on people to let them know what they would like this new bridge to be called’, Cowra General Manager, Paul Devery said. “This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to name a vital piece of community infrastructure.”
“There are a few general protocols around the naming of infrastucture that need to be followed, including a preference for Aboriginal and pioneer names and geographical names, with a disinclination for the names of living persons and overlong or commercial names,” Mr.Devery said. Submissions close on 31st July and can be forwarded by email to ddixon@cowra.nsw.gov.au
